DIGITAL ART DISPLAY
Summary
Digital Art Display uses physical computing, such as Arduino’s, to explore the idea of the uncanny valley. The “uncanny valley” is defined as a phenomenon that occurs when a humanoid object resembles a human being, causing an unsettling effect for the viewers.
A pixel is the smallest unit of a digital image or graphic that can be displayed and represented on a digital display device. Through the combination of polarizing films, the installation will display the letters “A,“ “B,“ and “C“ by imitating pixel units.
DETAIL
By using Arduino to control the servo motors’ rotation, the polarizing films, which are attached to the servo motors, will display different images due to the polarizer phenomenon with the top layer of polarizing film.

Display
Through the intersection of polarizing films, the installation will display the letters “A,” “B,” and “C.”
Polarizer
A polarizer or polariser is an optical filter that lets light waves of a specific polarization pass through while blocking light waves of other polarizations. It can filter a beam of light of undefined or mixed polarization into a beam of well-defined polarization, which is polarized light.
The polarizer ranges from clear to dark (in degrees).
0 degrees = 180 degrees (clear)
90 degrees = 90 degrees (dark)
