V-ART
Virtual Reality(VR)
CONCEPT
V-ART gallery uses virtual reality(VR) to explore the work of the Philadelphia Museum(PMA) of Art. Usually, the artwork will be arranged logically by timelines or painters. With VR, we can organize the work by themes, a creepy and weird atmosphere. Based on the topic, we create an immersive virtual gallery to better engage and interact with audiences. Our team can create new ways of storytelling from paintings and sculptures without the expense of erecting an actual building. We hope that V-ART can make art more playful and accessible through technology.
PROCESS
To prepare high-resolution images for VR, each painting and sculpture in the PMA was photographed around 50 to 60 times. Through the magic of “photogrammetry”, the audience gains a simulated intimacy with each work. Visitors can inspect a painting’s surface as close as they want.
STORY
In V-ART, the audience will navigate through a dungeon, attempting to find a way out while fires burn around the first painting, Without Ceres and Bacchus, Venus Would Freeze by Hendrick Goltzius in the darkness. After leaving the first room, the sculpture, Capitol, will move up under the ground to navigate a new path of the gallery spaces with a series of creepy woman paintings by Picasso. The interaction will be involved with the gallery to guide the visitors.
