VIRGINIA MUSEUM OF FINE ARTS (VMFA)
Interactive & Game design
Project Overview
Virginia Museum of Fine Arts looked to create an interactive game for an upcoming installation in their Interactive Gallery Exhibit. The space is for Ancient Egypt. The project focuses on decoding hieroglyphics.
The exhibit includes two 55” touchscreens mounted on a wall, where children and adults can have a fun interaction and introduction to hieroglyphics. Visitors play “hangman” to answer trivia questions about life in Ancient Egypt using hieroglyphics. An animated version of the exhibition’s mascot, Cleo, reacts to the accuracy of visitors’ answers.
My Role
I worked closely with the head designer to refine the visual design, contributed charming illustrations that harmonized with the overall design aesthetic, handled asset production in a way that made it easy for the developer to incorporate them into the app. In the end, I did QA both in terms of usability and technical issues.
